Manly Surf isn’t a show about surfing - it’s about people and their stories. It’s an inspirational, observation documentary series that takes you from the shores of one of Australia’s most iconic peninsulas, into the lives of Matt Grainger and his team of instructors and the people they meet at Manly Surf School.

Manly Surf takes us to the busiest surf school in Australia, with over 25,000 people a year learning to surf on one of Australia’s most beautiful beaches.

In Season 3, the team meet some extraordinary people who share hear their stories & experiences.

Through the support of Dick Smith, David Hicks comes to Manly Surf to talk about how he has moved on with his life and dealt with his struggles, and how he has the hope that surfing can help the healing process.

Matt has more than surfing on his mind when he sends the boys on a once in a lifetime adventure and takes them to an island paradise in Sumatra called the Mentawais. Traveling through the islands the team help a local village by bringing fresh water to their community and also hear the courageous story of how the boat they are traveling on was the first to come to the aid of the islands in 2010 tsunami tragedy.

Then there is Bra boy Mark Matthews talking to Matt about facing fear while Matt faces his own fear, when he gets invited to the notorious Maroubra surf break “Ours”, to having the biggest surfing event in Australia – “The Oz Open” right at Manly Surf School’s door step on the spectacular Manly Beach.

The Legacy Club supports all children who have lost their family members to war. The Club’s ambassador, Victorian Cross winning hero Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith, brings down some very special kids for a surfing treat.

Two local former World Surfing Champions Barton Lynch and Tom Carroll tell of their tough personal battles away from the Surf and how they climbed to the top to become World Champions.
