With 199 wickets under his belt after 49 Test matches, Mitchell Starc is set to achieve two milestones in the 1st Test v Sri Lanka at the Gabba in Brisbane, which commences on 24 January.
Firstly, it will be his 50th Test, on the same ground where he made his debut in December 2011.
Secondly, Mitch’s next wicket will see him join the magic 200 Club, a feat only 16 other Australian Test players have achieved.
The only Aussie left arm bowler with more Test wickets is Mitchell Johnson, with 313.
Mitch currently sits 17th on the list of all time Test wicket takers and at just 28 years of age, looks set to climb even higher up that list across 2019, with Jeff Thomson (200), Stuart MacGill (208), Merv Hughes (212) and Clarrie Grimmett (216) now all within range.
