Well done to Mitchell Starc who has had a successful past couple of months with Yorkshire in the English County League. Mitchell took 29 wickets at the impressive average of 16 during his time in the UK, and was the country’s leading wicket taker in the Twenty20 competition with 18 wickets at 10 runs apiece.

Mitchell has improved significantly under the watchful eye of former Australian fast bowling legend and Yorkshire coach, Jason Gillespie. “Mitch is leading the wicket tally and going at less than a run a ball. He is absolutely blitzing it, simplified his game. I have told him to hit the track hard, bowl yorkers and not to worry about anything else.” Gillespie said of Mitchell’s recent performances.

“I think the main thing he has done is keeping a simple game plan, nailing the basics and it is working. We finished at the top of the table in the T20, and having a great time with Dizzy getting the most out of us.” Mitchell said of Gillespie’s coaching influence.

Mitchell joins the Australia-A tour of England starting at the end of July, and going through August. This is another great opportunity for him to improve his experience in English conditions and take some more wickets.

In some more great news, he was selected in the One-Day and Twenty20 squads for Australia’s upcoming tour against Pakistan in the UAE.
